It was revealed today that Doctor Who Confidential, will be axed. The BBC Three behind the scenes show launched in 2005 alongside Doctor Who's revival.

BBC Three controller Zai Bennett is reportedly keen on focusing investment on original commissions in the future.

In a statement, a BBC spokeswoman said: "Doctor Who Confidential has been a great show for BBC Three over the years, but our priority now is to build on original British commissions, unique to the channel."

The final episode, When Time Froze, is on BBC Three on Saturday after The Wedding of River Song airs on BBC One.

Christmas Special 2011

Posted by The Doctor on September 21, 2011 at 6:25 PM Comments comments (0)

Details of this year's Christmas Special were released this morning and we have to say it sounds brilliant. Last year was Doctor Who does A Christmas Carol and this year is Doctor Who does The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Here are the plot details from the Official Website:

The special, set during World War II, sees Madge Arwell and her two children, Lily and Cyril, evacuated to a draughty old house in Dorset, where the caretaker is a mysterious young man in bow tie, and a big blue parcel is waiting for them under the tree. They are about to enter a magical new world and learn that a Time Lord never forgets his debts...

And not only does the plot sound brilliant, the list of guest stars is quite impressive. The special will star Claire Skinner (who plays the mum in Outnumbered), Bill Bailey (Comedian who appeared in Black Books and is a QI regular), Arabella Weir (from The Fast Show) and Alexander Armstrong (part of the Armstrong and Miller double-act and host of BBC shows Pointless and Epic Win). Judging by these guest-stars, the special could be very funny too! Armstrong has provided a voice for the Whoniverse before, voicing Sarah Jane's computer Mr. Smith.

Series Finale Synopsis

Posted by The Doctor on September 15, 2011 at 9:35 AM Comments comments (0)

The synopsis for the finale of series 6 "The Wedding of River Song" has been released by the BBC. It doesn't really give anything away whatsoever but there could be the odd clue in it.

"As the Doctor makes his final journey to the shores of Lake Silencio in Utah, he knows only one thing can keep the universe safe – his own death – in the concluding episode of this series of the time-travelling drama. But has he reckoned without the love of a good woman?

Doctor Who fans can also enjoy an extra helping of the Time Lord's adventures in a special, one-off mini episode written by schoolchildren in Doctor Who Confidential on BBC Three tonight."

The episode airs on October 1st. For more teaser about this episode and details about the rest of the series, visit out series 6 page.
