BAFTA Cymru Nominations

Various things from the Whoniverse have been nominated at this year's BAFTA Cymru Film, Television and Interactive Media Awards. They are:


 

  • Television Drama: Doctor Who
  • Television Sound: Doctor Who
  • Digital Creativity and Games: Doctor Who The Adventure Games: The Gunpower Plot
  • Children's Programme: The Sarah Jane Adventures.


The winners will be announced at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff on the 30th September.

Moffat to receive Special BAFTA

Who Showrunner and Sherlock co-creater Steven Moffat is to recieve a special award at this year's BAFTA TV awards for "outstanding creative writing contribution to television". 


"Blimey! A special award!" said Moffat. "I didn't even know I was ill". 


Previous winners of this award include former showrunner Russell T. Davies. Moffat won his first BAFTA in 1991 for Press Gang and won with Doctor Who and Sherlock in 2008 and 2011 respectively. Last Sunday he recieved the writing prize at the BAFTA Croft Awards for "A Scandal in Belgravia", the first episode of Sherlock's second series.


BAFTA Chair Tim Corrie said that Moffat is "one of the finest exponenets of his craft".

TV Choice Awards

It was a good night for Doctor Who and it's stars at the TV Choice Awards last night. 
- Doctor Who won "Best Family Drama". 

- Karen Gillan won "Best Actress" for her role as Amy Pond.
 

- David Tennant beat Matt Smith to "Best Actor" for his role in Single Father.

 

- And Steven Moffat's other TV show Sherlock won "Best New Drama".

With Doctor Who news flying at you all over the place, it can be a difficult to keep up with it all. Not to worry, here's all the latest!


- A full synopsis of episode 9 "Night Terrors" by Mark Gatiss has been revealed. You can read it on our series 6 page. The episode will air on Sat Sept 3rd at 7:15PM.


- Episode 12, Gareth Roberts' sequel to 2010's "The Lodger" is to be called "Closing Time".


- All the info on the reamining episodes of series 6 is on our series 6 page, which is constantly being updated.


- Doctor Who won  Best Dramatic Presentation (Short Form) at last night's Hugo Awards for "The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang" by Steven Moffat.


- The series 6 behind the scenes album is updated daily with new photos from the filming of series 6.


- Just after midnight tonight some new promo pics will be added to the Series 6 Promo Pics album.
